About Sheila

Empowering elementary students to reach their full potential has been the foundation of my teaching career. With 30 years of experience, I have taught preschool through sixth grade. I specialize in math, English, reading, and special education. I believe every child has unique strengths and success can occur with patient, individualized support. By assessing your child's individual needs and observing how they respond to new material, I will tailor each tutoring session through the use of visual aids, hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and connections to your child's interests. If a concept is difficult, I adjust my approach and reteach the skill in way that enables your child to understand. Seeing a child experience an "aha!" moment when a challenging skill makes sense as well as gaining confidence is very important to me. Together, we will identify meaningful goals, monitor progress, and ensure your child receives the support they need to grow and learn.
