About Shay

I've spent 10 years working as a preschool teacher and another 12 years as a nanny, and those experiences have shaped my entire approach to childcare. I believe deeply in positive reinforcement, gentle guidance, and redirection rather than punishment. Over the years, I've seen how clear, consistent expectations help children build their own sense of responsibility and self-discipline. My goal is always to encourage as much independence and self-sufficiency as possible while still maintaining a safe, supportive environment. I draw on years of hands-on experience to create environments where children feel secure, comfortable, and connected quickly, even during one-time or short-notice jobs. I've learned how to read a child's cues, meet them where they are, and build trust from the very first moments we spend together. Overnight care is something I'm especially comfortable with, bring a calm, capable presence that allows parents to rest without worry.
