Experience: 20 yrs
INTEGRITY, MUTUAL RESPECT & HEALTHY BOUNDARIES REQUIRED. As an infant-focused caregiver with 20+ years of experience, I provide calm, nurturing, developmentally supportive care. A consistent, stable schedule, clear communication, and respect for agreed-upon expectations are essential. Repeated violations of healthy boundaries or safety (physically, emotionally, mentally / intellectually, financially and spiritually) are grounds for immediate termination of services. I began in childcare by opening an in-home program for my daughter, later serving as an Infant Lead Teacher in licensed centers. I'm patient, warm, and attentive, and I support routines that build security and independence. I communicate through daily written updates and verbal check-ins and am comfortable reinforcing household rules. I enjoy gentle play, early learning, and outdoor walks. I can assist with light housekeeping, & infant/toddler meal prep. Early Childhood Education training and a college degree.
I initially had a wonderful impression of Sharla. When we met, she was exactly what I was looking for in a nanny: warm, engaged, punctual, and proactive about planning activities, playing outside, and keeping my toddler stimulated without screen time. During the short time she worked with us, she connected well with my son, understood the level of interaction we value, and was highly communicative. However, her professionalism took a sharp turn. In her second week, she quit via text at the exact start time of her scheduled shift, stating only that the job was “not a fit.” She would not answer the phone or respond to follow-up messages. This left me without child care during a week when I had long-scheduled medical appointments for my other children, upcoming travel to prepare for, and a business to run on a short holiday week. Her abrupt decision forced me to cancel and completely restructure not only that week, but all the foreseeble weeks until I am able to find care. What makes this especially disappointing is that she had spent time in our home and learned about our special needs daughter, our nephew, and the complexities of our family schedule. She also knew how essential consistent childcare is for me to run my business and maintain my livelihood as a self-employed parent. I invested significant time communicating with her in advance, laying out expectations, and confirming that everything was a good fit. I cleared my entire schedule during her first week to ensure she was supported, fully trained, and able to ask questions and feel comfortable. To put that level of time, trust, and effort into someone only for them to quit on the spot without warning felt incredibly inconsiderate, disrespectful, and frankly heartless.
