About Shannon

Hello! My name is Shannon and I live and breath education! I graduated from the Loyola School of Education in May 2016 with a degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics, receiving my teaching credentials for grades 6-12 in mathematics and an endorsement in ESL education. While in college, I worked as a tutor and mentor in a program called Algebra Boot Camp, which focused on giving students the tools and confidence needed to be successful in high school mathematics. I also worked independently for several families while in college, tutoring students in math. For the past two years, I have been working in a K-8 school in Chicago as their 7th grade math and 8th grade algebra teacher. I also teach writing to my 8th grade homeroom class. I strive to make ever lesson as student centered and engaging as possible so that students are making connections organically and in a way that shows them different approaches to a problem.
