About Shannon

I'm Shannon and I've worked with kids since I was a kid myself! Formally, I first worked in a rural primary school in Kenya. My internships during my undergrad focused on where kids and International Relations intersect. I interned at Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS foundation in Arusha, Tanzania and for World Relief Spokane's Youth Program. I then worked full time for Thrive International's Youth Program in Spokane. Currently I am living in Spokane as I prepare to move for grad school at the end of next year. I find kids' perspectives refreshing. I love to watch them learn and grow. At my core I believe every child deserves to be invested in by a village. I'm always grateful when I can be a part of that. The love of my life is my tiny poodle named Bumi. I love spoiling him and he knows it. Whether it's my collection of indoor plants or my friend's gardens I'm fascinated by the photo synthesizers.
