About Shannon

I'd describe my personality as caring, creative, and quirky. I like working with kids because there's always something new going on. I'm looking for a family that is comfortable with me bringing my 4. 5-year-old son to work with me since he's not old enough for kindergarten. I started working with kids when I was in college. Right after I graduated with a Degree in ECE I started working in a childcare center for 3. 5 years, then another center where I spent nearly 11 years, many of which as a lead toddler and then preschool teacher. I like to spend time with my family riding bikes, playing games, exploring, and being silly. I also love to read. I know the value of play in learning and I love to incorporate learning opportunities in whatever comes up during the day. My skills include experience with various ages, personalities, and learning styles, enthusiasm for learning and exploration, and compassion. I'm also CPR and first aid certified and have done water safety training.
