Hi, my name is Shannon. Before moving to Texas, I lived In California. There I worked for a non-profit company, Momentum Work Inc. for 15 years. I worked with adults with mental and /or physical disabilities in our Applied Abilities Program and moved my way on up to become a supervisor. I managed 58 employees and over 100 individuals with disabilities. In my 20 year as a caregiver I have worked with children, high-school and senior aged clients, specializing in Dementia, Alshermiers and Autism. I love cooking, having conversations, playing games, puzzles , reading, doing arts and crafts, going shoping, going for walks. Etc;. I'm an upbeat person with a can-do attitude. I am great at redirecting and im all about turning a bad day into a positive day! I know it sounds cliché but, I love takeing care of people. I want to Thank you for aking the time to read about me. *Resume and certification upon request will be emailed and dont for get to check out my ratings and recommendations.
When it comes to Shannon, where do I start? Maybe first with her incredible work ethic. While she worked as a caregiver for my mother during the day from January, 2024 to May, 2025, she approached her job with the most remarkable dedication. She was always on time, and spent every minute making sure my mother was comfortable, well taken care of, took her medicine, and felt safe and loved. While my mother rested, Shannon would spend the time keeping the apartment tidy, doing laundry, and cooking up a storm, not just for my mother, but for my brother as well! (She’s an amazing cook, a lovely bonus.). When my mom had an emergency one night and 911 was called and she went to the ER, Shannon drove out immediately to be with her. She took my mother to her doctor’s appointments and spoke to them afterwards so she could relate the details to me and my brother. This was such a relief for me, since I live in California. Next, her extraordinary “can do” attitude. My mom often talked about how much she loved bowling, but she was confined to a wheelchair. This didn’t stop Shannon from taking my mom every Tuesday for half-priced bowling, where my mom bowled IN HER WHEELCHAIR and then the two of them would indulge in half priced tacos. Exercise? Shannon got my mom signed up at a gym for weekly private sessions. Movies? Every week, and Shannon would bring her heated down jacket so my mom could stay warm. Museums, shopping trips to Walmart, lunches… Shannon was constantly finding ways to occupy my mom, despite her limitations. Finally, Shannon’s character. Shannon is the warmest, kindness, funniest, and most down-to-earth person you’ll ever meet. She doesn’t see her role as a caregiver as just a job, but a passion. She approaches it with such love, such compassion, such empathy, and such a sense of fun. She shows up in her jeans and tee-shirts, not scrubs, ready to make the most of every day, like a fabulous friend who is coming over to keep you company. Not surprisingly, her relationship with my mom evolved from Caregiver/Client to close friends. When my mom was moved to hospice in December, Shannon not only visited her before she went to work, but came afterwards, not only to be with my mom, but to support me and my brother during that terrible time. I can’t express how grateful I was that she was there for us, and I’ll always be beyond grateful for the love and care she showed my mother, making the last years of her life happy and meaningful. Shannon is one of a kind, and anyone who gets the pleasure of having her care for their loved one will be very, very lucky.
