I have had over three years experience caring for two gentlemen with developmental disabilities. It was the most rewarding job I have ever had. I grew very attached to them in the time that I spent with them. We worked on a schedule that was four days on three days off and when I hadn't been there in three days they were always so excited to see me when I came back to work. It made me feel like I was having a positive impact on their lives and which in knowing that made me feel like I was having a positive impact on my own life. One of the guys I worked with liked to sing and since I do as well, we would always sing songs so I felt like we had something in common. I think he knew more Christmas carols than I did. The other guy I worked with liked country music and I do as well, so they were a joy to work with. I'm always happiest in my life when I'm able to help others. It makes me feel better about myself.
