I have a deep passion for special needs children/adults. My dad was a special needs high school teacher while I was growing up. Specifically an autism teacher for 6 years. I went to the his high school and my junior / senior year I was able to be a teachers aid in a special needs classroom while I was in high school. I also volunteered my time during summer in an ESY elementary classroom along with high school! (4 total summers) This led me to caring and tutoring some of the students outside of school. I also have direct caregiving experience with children on the autism spectrum and with Down syndrome, ranging from low- to high-functioning. Once I was in college I become even more involved with the special needs community!
