Trained back in England to care for seniors and children for 30 plus years, CPR, blood born pathogen certified, non-smoker, COVID vaccinated. l do this to help them feel more dignified and comfortable, at peace and relaxed. One sweet lady was incontinent. Often, it didn't concern her, but on one particular day, it really did. Eventually, l stopped trying to clean her, made eye contact, and said, "l won't tell anyone if you you don't." She took my hand and gave it a squeeze, and to me, that was a good day. I sing with dementia sufferers who join me, or l talk about their favorite memories. That is a good day. I adore what l can do to ease someone's burdens and treat them with dignity and zero judgment. We are all equal and deserve respect.
