About Sandy

I was my father's caregiver after he was diagnosed with liver cancer. After his passing my husband and I became caregivers for my mother who had dementia. In my father's final weeks we ate his favorite foods, stayed up late watching old movies, talking, and I listened to his many stories about his life. We talked about death and our feelings about it. I feel I'm a good listener when people need to talk. My mother had dementia and had taken up embroidery shortly after she was diagnosed. I love to sew so I would sew doll clothes and she would embroider pillowcases. We would sip tea and chit chat for hours. These experiences with my parents were very rewarding to me by making it possible for them to stay in their home as long as possible.
