Providing companionship to the elderly is one of the most rewarding jobs I could ever do in my lifetime. To be able to bring a smile to their face, to hear them laugh, and just to be able to give them the dignity and respect they deserve is rewarding in itself. I provided companionship and care for an elderly man, who was in his last days & for a neighbor lady over a six month period. His care was providing water and meals as needed, giving his medications, helping him when he needed to use restroom, and basic companionship and safety. Even at the end, when he couldn't remember most people's names or wake up when visitors came, when I walked in the room, he would open his eyes and give me a big smile. For the past six months, I've been helping with the care of my elderly father who has esophageal cancer. I've gone to treatments with him, doctor's visits, transportation, helped with management of medications, feeding him through a tube, mobility, etc. I've sat with him when all he could do is sleep, but didn't want to be alone. I will provide companionship and care with respect, dignity, care, lots of energy and a big heart for your loved one!
