About Sam

I taught 6th-grade ELA last year and as of now will be teaching for another year at the same school. Not a single one of my 92 sixth graders failed their ELA class (waiting on state test results). They went from writing gibberish in the beginning of the year to independently writing complex sentences and expressing complex ideas. I worked with IEP students and did targeted interventions. I'm looking for more flexible work life, which is why I am seeking to tutor instead of teach full-time. I also realize I enjoy working with students individually rather than in large groups. I have a bachelors in history and masters degrees in journalism and creative writing.
