About Samantha

Although I did not have Sami working for me as a Nanny, I did have the pleasure of having her as my son’s counselor at summer camp two years ago. My son was diagnosed with Asperger’s a few months before he went to camp. My husband and I had been sending our children (daughter, 10, and son, 8) to this specific camp for two years prior. Those two summers were very hard for my son because of the lack of compassion and patience his former counselors had for him. I understand that caring for someone with Asperger’s can be difficult, but I felt as though his former counselors gave no sense of support to him whatsoever. I was getting daily phone calls and complaints about my son from the camp, and I was devastated. I did not want him to go back to this camp, but he wanted to continue going to the same camp as his older sister, so I agreed to give it one last try. When I called the camp, I expressed that he must be placed in a group with a head counselor who was exceptionally patient and compassionate. The camp told me they had someone in mind who they believed would be able to provide the level of support my son needed, and that’s when they recommended Sami. The camp made the right call because Sami was incredible. Her patience, understanding, and support for my son’s needs were deeper than anything we had ever experienced. I did not receive a single negative phone call from the camp that year, and Sami made sure to reach out to me every single day to tell me how well he was doing. She would send me pictures of him doing activities like art, woodshop, and sports (he normally never wanted to participate in any sports), and he always had the biggest smile on his face. Sami made my son’s summer—and mine as well. She still checks in with us to see how he’s doing, and I couldn’t be more grateful for her immense amount of kindness she has shown him, even still. Sami is one of a kind, and I would recommend her to everyone.
