About Sakura

Hi, I'm Sakura (they/them). As a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, specializing in children, adolescents, and families, I aim to positively impact young lives. My end goal is to own my community mental health agency or private practice to support this population, focusing on BIPOC AND 2SLGBTQIA+ youth trauma. My experience at Chicago Public Schools ignited my love for working with children and their families. I am patient, creative, and approachable. I am here to be the advocate for the family and have very flexible in my approach, centered on validation, humility, and calm. I also take an anti-racist and anti-oppressive approach to all of my work and life. At CPS, which is where I gained experience with childcare for about 6 months, I managed upwards of 16-20 children at a time, while also providing 1:1 supports. I speak English, with conversational Spanish and Japanese. I do not have a vehicle but can drive and use transit in the city.
