About Safiya

Safiya cared for our dad for two years until his death. He had dementia and used a catheter that required constant attention. She is reliable, caring, professional, patient, communicative, and proactive. She worked well with our team of caregivers. She gave us updates after each shift. She managed his medications and alerted us to his health needs and what he needed to be more comfortable. She was careful to keep him safe and also as independent as possible. She watched his balance and stayed close when he was on the move (he did NOT want to use a walker!) They had a lot of laughs and enjoyed trips to the movies and community activities, and especially to get ice cream. She cooked his meals, including his favorite grilled cheese sandwiches and homemade chocolate chip cookies. She kept up with house cleaning and the laundry. She took him to doctor appointments and when he had to be hospitalized she stayed at his side and advocated for him. In spite of his dementia, she treated our dad as the wonderful, witty, and amazing person he was.
