This is a criminal background check required for all caregivers before they can message families.
Experience: 2 yrs
Hi! I'm a responsible and patient college student with 2 years of childcare experience caring for children of various ages. I enjoy creating a safe, structured, and fun environment through activities like outdoor play, games, and creative learning. Growing up in a single-parent household, I understand how important reliable and trustworthy childcare is for families. I'm reliable, calm, and attentive, and I'm comfortable caring for up to three children while maintaining routines and household expectations. I communicate clearly with parents and am happy to provide updates based on your preference. I can also assist with light housekeeping, meal prep, crafts, and supervision during activities like swimming. With my background in Criminal Justice, safety and trust are always my top priorities. I'd love to support your family!
When she cancelled her third shift with less than 24-hour notice due vaguely to "unforeseen circumstances," she became very confrontational very quickly when I simply asked her for the reason. Even after I clarified that it is standard in the caregiving industry to provide a valid reason for last-minute cancellations because it creates hardships for families to suddenly not have the care that they were planning on, she immediately launched into a series of hyper defensive and combative statements that caught me off guard, including calling me rude to simply ask for the reason for the cancellation, and that she was apparently extremely offended that I had politely asked her (not demanded) if she would be willing to quickly run a swiffer mop along the floor to keep the floor clean for my baby while I took a half hour during her shift to put my baby to bed myself, even though her profile lists light housework among her services and it is for the baby. During her first two shifts, she was reasonably friendly to me and my baby, though I didn't personally appreciate that she kept constantly telling him "no" and also "you're fine" every time he fussed, since he is just a baby and I believe needs to have his feelings validated rather than dismissed. Yet despite this she speaks of herself like some kind of childcare expert because she has babysitting experience and some child psychology education, and she even told me when it was time for my baby to go to bed based on that education. Maybe she is good with kids in other circumstances, but her professionalism with adults clearly needs work. It is possible that there was just a personality or communication mismatch between us, but these things should always be handled professionally and politely, especially in the caregiving industry. Someone who quickly becomes super confrontational over reasonable differences is not someone I would trust my child with or an example I would want him to follow.
