Besides my experience as a caregiver at Advent Health Hospital in the Med Surg Department, I have taken care of infants and toddlers as a part-time job over the last 3 years. Since one of my jobs is giving music and vocal lessons to mostly toddlers and teenagers I have learned how to interact and direct their attention in a proper way. I have taken care of my autistic and legally blind brother since I was able to remember and this has taught me to empathize and have patience with the special needs community. I am able to cook and do some household chords, I can communicate in English and Spanish proficiently and I am also CPR certified.

Ruth has only babysat for my son a few times and I don't think I even have enough space here to express how wonderful she is. Given that my son has "special needs" (not my preferred wording, but it fits in this context) I am very particular about who I let spend time with him. I also am very clear with anyone watching him that my only expectation is they play with him, keep him safe, etc. For example I never expect the caregiver I hire to do any cleaning aside from cleaning up any messes my son may make. Ruth so far exceeded any expectations I had. My son had a wonderful time with her. She was clearly attentive to him and put in the effort to try playing with him, which is hard even for me sometimes given that he's non verbal and is still struggling to communicate through other means. Long story short, Ruth is more than incredible and anyone would be lucky to have her babysit.
