About Ruby

Hello, my name is Ruby and I am a UC Davis graduate with a degree in Ecology and Conservation Biology. I have just moved up to Portland after 6 years in Santa Barbara, 3. 5 of which I spent working as a lead staff with Wilderness Youth Project. I have experience leading up to 16 children on school, after school & overnight programs helping facilitate connection to the natural world. While working with WYP I spent my time teaching landbased skills such as collecting seed, fire tending, tree climbing, foraging, backpacking, kayaking and leading nature based games with the upmost thought for risk managment and child safety. I love neighborhood walks, working in the garden and spending time inside working on crafts/ puzzles. I have also worked as a Garden teacher at a bilingual Elementary School in Woodland, teaching students about plant science and gardening in English and Spanish. I have worked as a summer camp counselor for 5 years as well as a teaching assistant in a classroom setting.
