I have been a Personal Care Attendant for children/young adults with special needs for over 10 years. As an older sister to a brother on the Autism spectrum, I've been around special people my whole life. Being a PCA has always been my calling. I've worked other types of jobs but nothing is more fulfilling than care taking. I've worked with an array of different disorders and syndromes including Angelman's Syndrome, Autism, OCD and Phelan McDermid Syndrome. I know how to work with clients with g-tubes, spinal fusions, AFOs and clients who use wheelchairs (though my vehicle is not wheelchair accessible). I enjoy working in the home with my clients but also love taking them out to engage in fun activities (swimming, museums, parks, library, group classes etc) and I'm never adverse to helping around the house (cooking/cleaning/pet care). My rate says $15 but I'm currently looking for positions that play closer to $20hr.
