Throughout my childcare and teaching career, I have worked with children that have ADD/ADHD, Asperger', Autism, diabetes, developmental delays, and speech delays. I provided childcare to my friend whom has two boys with ADHD and needed special attention. I provided childcare to another friend whom has a daughter with diabetes as I had experience babysitting my diabetic cousin. I checked her blood sugar, gave her insulin and learned how to identify the signs of diabetic shock. I provided childcare to a friend whom has twins, one with muscular dystrophy. I helped her walk, picked her up when she got tired and provided animal therapy at my home. My son had a developmental delay, as well as, a speech delay (at 2 1/2). I worked with him on his fine and gross motor skills. I am passionate about working with special needs children because they are all unique and special. I am able to understand these special children and relate to their families, because I am a parent of a child with delays
