I changed careers at 47 cause I wanted to make a difference in someone's life. I worked for 1 1/2 years as a certified nursing assistant in a skilled nursing facility helping our elderly with all aspects of their activities of daily living. I also worked at the BPH for 10 years as a mental health therapy aid with 3 of those years working on the ERMU floor (Elderly Rehabilatation Medical Unit) helping our elderly that had the misfortune of not only having psychiatric issues but physical limitations as well. Since being a caregiver with Care. com I've been blessed to have had the opportunity to help 10 individuals in need. My duties included, medication administration, toileting, bedbathing, feeding, cooking, cleaning, exercising, getting ready for the day, getting ready for bed, take to appointments and most importantly companionship.
