I spent the last year working as a Special Educator in an Elementary School. I also acted as a camp counselor at a camp in Zirconia, NC with campers diagnosed to be on the Autism spectrum. I spent the summer of 2010 as a paraprofessional at the Montessori School of Shreveport with a student diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. I have a certification in wilderness First Aid, lifeguard, and medical administration. I love working with kid's with special needs because it is all about understanding how to best communicate and care for them. Each child is an individual who deserves to be taught, cared for, and celebrated for who they are, not according to models that work for everyone else. Other than basic childcare, I can also provide tutoring services for those with special needs on their level of understanding to aid in pushing them to accomplish their goals.
