About Rebecca

Most of my experience is with children, although some of my fondest memories is when I have worked with the elderly. I worked at Kirkland Village which is a retirement home in PA for 2 years, and volunteered there previous to my employment. When I volunteered my duties were to visit, help the residents get to various different activities, and assist in running the activities. When I worked at Kirkland Village I was a waitress in the dining hall and here it was my responsibility to help residents get to their seats, get the residents their food promptly, and most importantly make the residents feel at home and important always. I also have my bachelor's degree in Psychology which I obtained from the Kutztown University of PA. Finally, I am passionate about this type of work because I feel the elderly is a group that really needs human interaction and attention. An older person goes through dwindling health, losing family members, and has to deal much more with their own mortality than younger individuals do. I have learned in classes I took in school about a high depression rate in the elderly because of these very factors. Although my experience isn't extensive, I truly have empathy.
