We scheduled an in-home nursing interview for 6:00 PM and were expecting the applicant to arrive. She did not show up at the scheduled time. We later discovered that she had sent an email stating that a personal matter had come up and she would not be attending.While emergencies and personal situations can happen to anyone, I was disappointed that she chose to send an email rather than call. When someone is expected at a family's home, a phone call is the professional and courteous way to communicate a last-minute cancellation. We were left waiting and wondering if she was still coming. For families seeking dependable nursing coverage, especially for medically complex or special needs individuals, communication and reliability are critical. Unfortunately, this experience did not give us confidence that those expectations would be met. First impressions matter, and this interview experience fell short of what we expect from a healthcare professional.
