I have had a passion for special needs ever since I can remember, having grown up with a mother who has been a special ed teacher for 30+ years. Recently I accepted a position to be a teachers assistant in a special needs school where I work with children (both verbal and non-verbal) aged 13-16 diagnosed with ASD and Downs Syndrome, as well as some students who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. This job has taught me ABA techniques which I put into play with my students every day by using token boards, individualized visual schedules, and of course, reinforcement to decrease behaviors. My passion for this field has grown, and I am currently in the process of becoming a registered behavior technician (will be completed by May 2019). I am also applying for graduate school to get my masters in applied behavior analysis, and will hopefully pursue a career as a BCBA. I look forward to broadening my horizons through each child I get the privilege of working with. Will be available June
