About Rachel

For the past 8 years, I have been teaching 4th-6th grades, mostly in a Montessori setting. Before that, I worked as a tutor and outdoor educator for 2 years. I graduated from Bates College with a degree in Biology in 2014. I have experience working with a wide range of young people (5-14 years olds mostly). I love the opportunity to work with a student long-term so that we can really boost their confidence with and deepen their understanding of the material. As a tutor, I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for math and science. I am a very visual and hands-on learner, so as an educator I try to integrate new, hands-on ways of solidifying knowledge. This summer, I have some travel plans that I need to work around, but I would love to find some tutoring or childcare work to do for the periods I am home.
