About Piper

Hi! My name is Piper. I'm currently a student at UNM majoring in psychology and minoring in special education. I am currently working as a Registered Behavioral Technician for children with autism. I also work as a Direct Support Professional for adults with intellectual disabilities. As a RBT I've gained skills for children with a range of needs. I can implement behavior, communication, social skills and daily living skills goals. As a DSP I've gained skills with deescalation and caregiving. This includes household chores, cooking, bathing, and toileting. While doing these tasks I also model and teach independence. During my time at UNM I've taken courses on early childhood development and adolescent development. I also have my CPR and First Aid certifications. I would describe myself as a patient, calm and creative person. I am an active person so I can keep up with kids energy. I'm great at creating a fun safe environment while teaching and maintaining boundaries.
