My last years of teaching were in a Self Contained Least Resistance class of 9 children. I taught these children multiple years until they would move into 5th grade. Cognitively my student's were at least 2 grade levels behind but I taught them with varied learning materials and styles. My children were mostly nonverbal and had mobility devices. The children I taught had diagnoses of Cerebral Palsy, Down's Syndrome, autism spectrum, and or combination of these. The ages varied from 6-11 years of age. It's Also important to know I raised a son who is on the spectrum. He is now 30, still lives with me but does very well. I am aware of the many struggles that exists with raising special needs children but I know of the great rewards as well! Please allow me to help you with your lil darlings!
