I also lived in Taiwan where I studied my master's degree and tutored Spanish for two girls. I like to make learning a game as much as possible, by including visual material, songs, games, stories, etc. However language is not only fun, but also students learn to organize thoughts, connect knowledge and push out of their comfort zone.
