Trish was hired to be mom's companion /caregiver for a few hours a day, 4 days /week roughly 1 year after mom was diagnosed with dementia. Mom was still in the early stages of dementia and loved Trish as her companion to go out to eat, shopping or just to hang out and watch movies. Trish was always very professional, always on time and kept a daily journal of mom, where she'd describe the daily activities they'd accomplished, mom's diet on that particular day and if there were any special notes (abnormal or strange behavior due to dementia), she'd write those down, too. She has an easy going, quiet and loving personality. Always showed love and respect for mom and as time went on and mom became harder to "bargain with", Trish could always talk to her in a very empathetic manner that made mom feel respected. She always had a way of choosing the right words at the right time to speak to mom. She is also very reliable and honest. She kept a debit card for an account that my husband opened for "spending money" for mom when she felt like going out shopping or going out to eat. Trish always kept all the receipts and there was never any over spending or suspicion of misuse of said monies. Overtime our relationship with Trish only grew closer and she sort of became a part of our family; we've become great friends! She made mom and our newborn baby gorgeous crocheted blankets, she spent 2 holidays with our family, and we grew even closer as mom neared the end of her life. She truly loved mom and was honored to have served mom during those 2 short years. Lastly, Trish is very knowledgeable about dementia from her extensive experience with dementia patients. If you have a loved one with dementia needing extra care, Trish is more than skilled for the job! I would hire her again and again and will always refer her to anyone that could use her professional care.
