I've been taking care of all kinds of family pets since I've been a nanny the last 28 years. I made sure that the family pets are also happy, loved, I am present with them, taking care of all their needs and walked not just the children humor. But, that the family pets feel satisfied as well. Even when I wasn't working with the children families are vacationing. I would sleep over or I would just pop in walk the pets make sure everything is taken care of that's needed just for them and I would walk the pets and then stay there till night time and hangout then I would leave and return again in the morning.
