Experience: 5 yrs
I'm a dedicated healthcare professional w/ a strong background in business administration and culinary arts. With a Bachelor's Degree in Business Admin and 4 years of experience in restaurant management, I transitioned into healthcare where I have excelled as a CNA for the past 5 years. My experience spans working with people with disabilities, in assisted living, and specializing in memory care for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's. In addition to my CNA role, I have enriched my caregiving skills through roles as a chef for hire in private homes and as a chef at an assisted living facility. I have also served as a Medication Technician & Activity Coordinator within the Life Enrichment, ensuring holistic care and enhancing the quality of life for residents. I am passionate about providing compassionate care, improving patient outcomes.
Lorna has been my mother’s companion for about six months and she has been wonderful. We first met Lorna when she worked as a CNA at my mom’s assisted living facility. Lorna was one of my mom’s favorite helpers, and because of what I witnessed, she became one of mine, as well, so much so that my mom and I were so sad when she left the job that I took her number in case I ever needed additional help with my mom. At the time, I already had a caregiver, but Lorna said she would love to work with my mom again, if I ever needed someone. It turned out I did need someone, and Lorna now sees my mom once a week — she takes her out of the facility and they do something fun together. I wish I could afford to hire her for more hours a week, and I also wish I could pay her far more than her hourly rate, which is very reasonable considering how valuable she is to us. Lorna is very professional and experienced, and she is knowledgable of senior issues, including physical and medical issues. That is extremely important. But perhaps as important or maybe even more important, she is kind to my mother, and is thoughtful and respectful. She is fun, funny, upbeat, positive and energetic. Because of her experience, knowledge and personality, she is able to get the seniors in her care to do things they don’t want to do, like shower, go to the bathroom, leave the house for outings or activities or meals. Lorna’s job for us is as a companion, however she doesn’t shy away from any caretaking my mom might need, including very tough tasks. My mom, and I am sure Lorna’s other clients, trust her. Lorna knows how to have fun with them and how to make them laugh. She is very loving towards my mother, so much so my mother has really come to love her back. You can’t pretend the love Lorna has for my mom — she truly cares for her, like a member of her own family. This doesn’t scratch the surface of what Lorna has meant to my mom and me. Please reach out to me for more details, if you are considering hiring Lorna.
