Nora is the most empathetic person I know. Over 20 years ago we both volunteered at a senior home. Nora and I were placed in the same room along with other volunteers to talk to a woman and keep her company for the day. The woman pointed at a picture frame that still had the size of the photo that should go in it and a staged photo of a couple getting married. She pointed at the frame and said my son got married and didn’t invite me. All of us volunteers looked at her blankly and thought that’s not even a real photo she must have dementia. Except Nora. Nora sat down next to her on her bed (which smelled like urine) and hugged her and let her cry on her shoulder.
