I have had dogs, cats, birds, mouse, hens, goats as pets. I can very well take care of caged animals like snakes as well. They don't make any difference from a dog or a cat. I own 2 dogs at present, a rescued Dalmatian and a gifted Labrador. They both are high energy dogs. The Dalmatian is an anxious fur baby of mine. He needs a lot of attention and this gives me the best understanding pets with special needs or care. Big or small, I love them all! I believe that no breed or size needs to be stigmatized, they all are who they are based on how they are being nurtured. Nothing different from a human child! Nurture vs Nature!!
