When my mother came home after months of stroke rehab she still needed a lot of support. Nikie was one of the first caregivers to work with her and they connected quickly. Nikie’s kindness, openness and patience were critical as my mother had very limited ability to communicate and also limited mobility. Nikie quickly learned how to interpret what my mother was trying to say. As a very independent woman, my mother didn’t want caregivers to help her with transfers even if she needed it. Nikie was able to find a great balance of giving her space and being there when it mattered most—for transfers and everything else. Nikie works hard, is responsible and is incredibly committed to doing the best work possible. Though my mother has passed, Nikie will always be part of my family.
