Previously, I spent 2 wonderful years in Special Education within the Fairfax County Public School system in Mclean, Virginia before moving to Wilmette. During that time our students presented with the most severe conditions such as Down syndrome and Autism, many were non-verbal. For the past 5 years, I have been working full-time at a private school as an Assistant Kindergarten teacher. In addition, the last 5 years I have been working part-time for a family who has a non-verbal child, confined to a wheelchair. My tasks include feeding, changing as well as constant engagement by reading, singing, doing art projects, and enjoying lots of outdoor time. I truly enjoy making a difference in someone's life From the moment I started working in Special Education something clicked and I instantly felt a connection to these kids. Going into work sparked joy and I embraced the challenge of finding ways to best engage and develop a rapport with these kids. I can also do errands for you.
