I have worked as a direct support professional on long island for about 9 months. I am looking for a new job because I recently relocated. I have always had a passion for working with people with disabilities. My job requirements currently include helping individuals with showering, dental care, room care, administering medication, helping with household activities like cooking and cleaning, following diet plans, taking them out on trips, etc. I want to help them live the best life that they can. I always encourage them to make the right choices and do the right thing, I also encourage them to be as independent as possible. If they cannot do something instead of doing it for them I work with them to teach them to do it themself. If it cannot be taught I will happily do it for them.
