About Niashika

I have about 20 years experience in the field, mostly working with clients with Alzheimer's and dementia. My previous work history includes working as a CNA, Activity Director, and most recently (past 10 years), Memory Care Director for many well-known senior communities. For the past two years I have been working as an in-home caregiver as I have been working towards my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I am set to start my internship in January, and am looking for work that fits with my schedule. I am very compassionate about senior care. My desire to pursue the field of mental health was due to the unmet need that I observed in the senior care community; for patients as well as families. My philosophy has always been that medications are no where near as powerful as empathy and understanding. My attitude is upbeat, I live by Christian principles, and use humor as a coping tool. My hobbies are reading, writing, music (all kinds), and enjoying nature.
