The importance of meeting children's unique and individual needs. we strive to treat them with respect and understanding. I have learned to truly value my life, to avoid taking things for granted, and perhaps most important, that all people have extraordinary potential. I have seen people with manic depression rise to the occasion to support their family. I have seen a team of adults with varying physical and mental disabilities take home gold medals from the Special Olympics. I have seen abused, violent and misguided individuals learn compassion, understanding, and the value of friendship. Yet I have also seen an ugly side, the way many members of the general public treat people with disabilities. I understand the illness and I treat patients with love and care.
