For three summers, I was a job coach and life coach for young adults with special needs. I also was a counselor for kids (ages 10-18) with special needs. Their diagnoses ranged from Autism Spectrum Disorder to a variety of other mental illnesses. This past summer, I was a lead counselor at a summer treatment program for kids with ADHD and similar disorders, where I implemented an evidence-based treatment program, collected behavioral data, and met with parents every day to assess their progress. Lastly, for the past 2 years, I have worked in a lab for shy and anxious 3-5-year-olds and their parents, where I aid in assessments and lead their treatment as a group leader for their sessions. I have always been passionate about inclusion and about paying attention to the strengths of those whom society often only sees weakness. From working with these groups of people I have learned more than I have taught, and the perspective and energy that they have brought to my life has been inspiring
