I cared for my cousin, who has spina bifida, when she was a child, and as an adult. I have also cared for another relative and a friend's daughter with Down syndrome. In my work as a homebound instructor, I have schooled children with learning disabilities such as ADD and auditory processing disorder, and also social issues, such as relating poorly to other children. I believe that for every child that exists, there is a compassionate way of caring for and teaching the child that is unique to the person.
