Being a CNA and caregiver has been one of the most humbling and eye-opening experiences of my life. Working closely with patients teaches you patience, compassion, and emotional strength. Every day is different--one moment you may be assisting with activities of daily living like bathing, feeding, or repositioning, and the next you are offering comfort to someone who simply needs reassurance. It requires both physical endurance and emotional resilience. You learn how important dignity is, especially when patients are at their most vulnerable. Building trust with residents and their families creates meaningful connections that go beyond basic care. Although the work can be demanding, knowing you made someone feel safe, clean, heard, and valued makes it incredibly rewarding. It truly strengthens both clinical skills and the heart.
