When walking into a home with both dogs and cats, I'd aim to create a calm, non-intrusive atmosphere. For the dogs, I'd enter slowly and avoid rushing over to them, allowing them to come to me at their own pace. I'd let them sniff me and get comfortable with my scent, speaking in a soft, friendly tone, and waiting until they settle before offering any affection. With the cats, I'd respect their space, letting them approach me if they're curious and avoiding any sudden movements that might startle them. I'd keep my energy neutral and slow, making sure they feel safe and unpressured. If they choose to observe me from a distance or retreat to a quiet spot, I'd respect their boundaries. Ultimately, it's about allowing both the dogs and cats to feel in control of the interaction, giving them time to adjust and ensuring they feel comfortable in their space. I also have 2 dogs and 2 cats of my own. I always make sure to take my dogs out, feed them on time and make sure they're doing good.
