My first experience tutoring was through a government funded program called America Reads. This was during the 2002 to 2003 school year. I worked at a bilingual public elementary school (I speak Spanish, as well) tutoring small groups (two to four children) with literacy skills. I worked with kindergarten through fourth grade. Two years later, I tutored at a bilingual middle school through a co-op program. I received college credits for being an assistant math teacher and tutor. I spent half of my day in the classroom and half of the day with small groups (two to four) assisting sixth and eighth graders with math skills. In 2008, I was a private tutor for a fourth grader who needed assistance with math. I spent an hour, two days a week, with him.
