About Monica

I have recently retired after 36 years teaching public school English in grades 7 -12. My underlying teaching philosophy emphasizes development of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which are instrumental for success in all classes. I have taught at-risk students all GED courses necessary for graduation. I explain the value of organization and demonstrate how to maintain an assignment calendar complete with due dates and record keeping. I encourage perseverance, positive self worth, courtesy, and creativity. Finally, I will help the student discover learning tricks particular to his/her unique learning style. I am currently substituting for a school district, so I would only be available after school or on weekends. However, I can not work Thursday and Friday afternoons (my husband's weekend).
