I'm Monica, a former Teach for America teacher, Harvard graduate and education researcher with over 20 years of childcare experience. I've taught Kindergarten and Special Education, worked in a home daycare and have cared for children since I was 13. My background in child development, literacy and family engagement allows me to support both academic and emotional needs. While some would say I'm overqualified, after being laid off, I'm looking to do what I love most and that is caring for children. I truly enjoy being around them and helping them feel confident, understood and joyful. Families describe me as thoughtful, caring, grounded and nurturing. She sees, hears, and develops the wonder present in young people and invites them to see beauty in the world. When it comes to academic pursuits, Monica inspires curiosity and a quest for excellence. She provides a balance of challenge and support that is necessary for young people to grow and thrive. I have seen Monica in action in early childcare, an elementary setting, and in an informal educational context with middle school and high school youth. She is excellent and appropriately attentive in each setting. Young people blossom with Monica's nurturing care.
