I think that being an elder is an honor. To have the knowledge and life experience to help others from your gained wisdom; it's not valued in the US as it should be. I've always enjoyed elderly people, and they me. I don't know where I'd be without the wisdom and care of the generations before me! I have had three caregiving clients over 4 years - client 1 and 3 were both sharp woman in her 80's/90's whose physical challenges required help with showering, meals, and walking with a walker. We had a great time on cultural outings, reading the news together, cooking good food. My second client had dementia, a radically progressive ex-social worker in her 90's whose needs progressed from meal making and companionship to showering, dressing, and toileting. We both had backgrounds in helping professions and were a good match. I do love to cook, and she loved to receive it! I list the dementia care as it's part of my experience, but I don't desire a dementia client.

I hired Mindy based on her excellent previous references, demonstrated competency, and strong background in elder care. Mindy is highly organized and an exceptional cook. She has a solid grasp of time management and consistently knew what needed to be accomplished each day. When my mother required hospitalization, Mindy handled the situation with great efficiency and care, managing the emergency seamlessly in my absence. I depended on her to keep me informed, and she excelled in ensuring my mother received the attention and care she needed.
