I have over 35 years of experience working with children and adults with a variety of physical and developmental disabilities. I've worked with senior citizens as a caregiver and with children and adults providing respite care. Some of my experience includes working in a hospital rehabilitation, adult day care center and in-home environments. My duties consist of assisting the individuals with activities of daily living, assisting with meals, administering daily meds, house cleaning, taking clients shopping or to doctor appointments and companionship. I have recently retired from working as a Special Education Paraprofessional in the school districts, but continue to work part time as a caregiver and Direct Support Professional including elderly care. I love this field of work and feel I have the compassion and patience, respect and sense of humor needed to do so. I've always had the ability to build a rapport with the individuals I've worked with, their families and my coworkers.
