About Michelle

I have experience working with and caring for children in various contexts for over 10 years. As a swim instructor, I have worked with children from 4 months to 15 years old to build a stimulating and age appropriate learning environment. I learned how to create a safe environment, where children feel brave enough to try new and frightening things like putting their face in the water or floating by themselves for the first time. I worked as a babysitter for several families in the past and have enjoyed spending time with kids and doing activities like arts and crafts projects, playing board games, exploring the outdoors and building lego fortresses. I am an excellent cook and can prepare wholesome and delicious meals and engage kids in the cooking process, either for fun or to practice math skills like addition, multiplication and fractions. As a lifeguard, I dealt with enforcing rules and making tough, but unpopular, decisions to maintain a safe environment. I know first aid and CPR and have provided care to kids dealing with skinned knees and bee attacks. I mostly have experience caring for preschool and elementary aged kids, but I have some experience caring for younger kids.
